Mass Effect 4 basically confirmed by producer

Two quotes from an interview about ME3 have done the rounds on the net this week:

"It wouldn't be a bad idea (to keep your ME3 saves)" said ME3's Associate Producer, Mike Gamble

"Obviously I can't say anything, but it wouldn't be a bad idea..."

Given ME3 is supposed to be the ending of a trilogy, the suggestion to keep one's saved games strongly hints that there will be a further Mass Effect game (4!?) which ties in directly to the events of the past three games. No surprise really as the Mass Effect series is a big seller and the cash cow needs to be milked. Not that I'm complaining, all the teaser reviews and the like are suggesting ME3 will be awesome.

Well quite possibly what will happen is that this other game will be a spin-off, and importing one's ME3 save will alter certain events of the other title's story. Which would be cool.

Because Ship-hard will need some serious R&R after kicking ass for the third time. And not another sequel.

I think you are mostly likely correct - I recall reading elsewhere there was a suggestion that the trilogy with Ship-hard was only the end of that chapter in the ME Universe.

Look for ME4 to feature a time travel plot that requires a pod of blue whales to communicate with an ancient civilisation to prevent the earth from being wiped out.
