Super Sexy Heroines and Villainous Vixens Cosplay Costumes

In writing the title of this post I had to learn to spell villainous. I don't ever know if it's actually a real world. Either way it's full of cosplay characters that are the heroes or villains of many pieces of comic book, video game or movie fictions.

What's your favourite? Who would you like to rescue you or lift your wallet?

Dead Space too scary a game?

Dead Space 3 feeder

In some amusing propaganda / promotional talk for the forth coming Dead Space 3 game, marketing executive Laura Miele from EA said said research on the two predecessors to Dead Space 3 were "pretty scary" to play solo, and where a main reason  why co-op was included in the latest installment.

I say it's all talk (but the game is scary!) and that co-op is another tool to make the game play fun for friends!

Miele was quoted as saying "We received feedback to understand how we can take the game out to even more consumers. We were hearing feedback that they love the thriller game, but it was pretty scary, and the obvious next step was that they wanted to play with someone. So we introduced co-op into the game."

Miele went to assure fanboys that the inclusion of co-op for Dead Space 3 will not compromise the sheer terror that is a feature of the series thus far.

“The horror of Dead Space is still all there," she said. "It’s still true to its roots and no less scary, but people felt far more comfortable playing it with someone else than they did doing it on their own...Personally, I would rather go to a scary movie with my husband rather than sit at home with the lights out watching one on my own. We’re looking for that to reach out to consumers that perhaps were not open to Dead Space 1 and 2.”

I gotta be honest, I only recently got my hands on the original Dead Space game. So far it has it's moments.... full review to follow.

Sexy Assassin's Creed Cosplayer

Did you know the Great Bard, William Shakespeare invented the word 'assassin'? You gotta wonder what he would have thought of the story telling he might have come up with for Assassin's Creed. He surely would have appreciated this fine piece of cosplay!

Tintin cosplay - like you've never seen before!

Here's a rare treat for Tintin trainspotters, a fulsome red-headed gal, doing her best costumed version of one of the greatest cartoon characters in Belgian history. Actually, does Belgium have any other famous cartoons aside from Tintin?

Either way, I'm sure all readers of fiction will agree this lady's version of Tintin is worth gettting your barnacles blistered over!

Neill Blomkamp reflects on the Halo film

The Playlist features Neill Blomkamp's thoughts on how Halo has lead him to where he is today, about to release his second feature length fill "Elysium."

For those so unaware, Neill was set to direct Halo and well into production development before it was canned.

Here's the tasty bits Neil said:

"I think 'Halo' was a complete blessing in disguise. I have no idea what would've happened to my career if I had done that."

"It really, really, really, really, really happened in a way that I think is pretty lucky for me. I'm lucky that I met Peter Jackson and I'm incredibly lucky that he was the person that allowed 'District 9' to be made. There is absolutely no way on God's Earth that that film would be made in Hollywood without his involvement. Or without him basically dictating that it was going to be me. A first time director, you just can't do that"

"What happened for me was, the collapse of the hornet's nest nightmare that 'Halo' would've been -- and I got to experience that as well, I worked on that thing for six months -- it's like 'good riddance' when it falls over. And then to be more confident in your own ideas, and to work on ['District 9'] and then to work on another idea at the time, it's now reaffirmed for me, you don't need to go and do this whole approach that a lot of directors seem to take. I don't really care if it's not the biggest film. As long as I'm creatively invested in it, I feel like I'm making the right choice. It could be a $5 million film, it doesn't matter. The budget we needed on ['Elysium'] was a lot, but that's because the concept required that."

Wanna see what Adrianne Curry wore to Comic Con?

Cosplay Queen Adrianne Curry lived up to the hype that the SDCC Comic Con promised. Here's her portrayal from the Legend movie.

I have that movie on DVD but stopped halfway through due to sheer boredom...

Not to be content with the black dress, Adrianne then donned a tight fitting leather outfit that was a play on a certain Star Wars look... oh, how could I forget Raptor Jesus....

Greg Bear's Halo: Silentium released date announced

Halo: Silentium - cover -art

Greg Bear's Halo: Silentium has been announced - the novel is the conclusion to Bear's Forerunner trilogy. Let's hope it's a more satisfying reading that Primordium.....  I imagine it is being released after Halo 4 to not give away any plot details of the game.

Here's the press release from TOR Books about the fiction.

New York, NY – July 11, 2012 - Tor Books, an imprint of Tom Doherty Associates, LLC—the largest publisher of science fiction in the world—is thrilled to reveal the title, cover, and release date for the third novel in the New York Times bestselling Halo Forerunner Saga, HALO: SILENTIUM, written by legendary science fiction author Greg Bear. The first two books of the Forerunner Saga, Halo: Cryptum and Halo: Primordium are currently available in trade paperback, e-book, and audiobook. This newest book in the series, HALO: SILENTIUM will release in hardcover from Tor on January 8, 2013 alongside simultaneous audio and e-book editions.

The New York Times bestselling Halo series of novels, based on the hugely successful Halo videogame franchise, has sold millions of copies, and is part of a global phenomenon that has dominated the science fiction landscape over the last decade.

In Halo: Cryptum, Greg Bear began a three-book arc set in the era of the Forerunners, the ancient and enigmatic creators and builders of the Halos, which continued in Halo: Primordium. Now, in the last years of the Forerunner empire, chaos rules. The Flood—a horrifying shape-changing parasite—has arrived in force, aided by unexpected allies. Internal strife within the ecumene has desperately weakened Forerunner defenses.

Only the Ur-Didact and the Librarian—a husband and wife pushed into desperate conflict—hold the keys to salvation. Facing the consequences of a mythic tragedy, one of them must now commit the greatest atrocity of all time—to prevent an unmatched evil from dominating the entire universe.

Tor Books has proudly partnered with Microsoft and 343 Industries to publish every book set in this iconic universe. Along with the books of the Forerunner Saga, Tor also publishes another all-new Halo trilogy penned by New York Times bestselling author Karen Traviss that explores the Halo Universe in the wake of the final events of Halo 3. Traviss’s first novel, Halo: Glasslands, came out in 2011, with Halo: The Thursday War due out in October 2012.

Iron Man cosplay fail. It's pretty epic.

This is about as epic a cosplay fail as you can get. This is Iron Man if you couldn't tell....

We've got more cosplay fails at the link! Here some cosplay fans doing it right! If that don't help, The Ironettes should cheer you up, cure your hangover.

Some clever person has created the Big Green Guy in Minecraft and given him a pet pig.

I'm quite confident that this is an allusion to the Covenant's Prophets and their example of being leaders of Covenant that demonstrates that power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely. Quite confident.

I like what appears to be a Halo ring in the background and perhaps a grunt as well....

If you get lost at Comic Con, Wonder Woman will save you

wonder woman cosplay flash

The above photo is apparently cosplayers dressed as Wonder Woman and The Flash helping a lost kid at a Comic Con. It's nearly as awesome as Hellboy making friends with young X. Bless. Anyways, here's a random selection of cosplayers doing the cosplay thing. We've got heroes and villians. Super Babes and  dastardly bastards. A master chief and a Scorpion. All in all, cosplayers have have a sweet time of it lately!

Is a Halo 2 remake on the cards?

Is a Halo 2 remake on the cards?

If the Official Xbox Magazine has it's finger properly on the pulse, they have confirmed that 343 has started work in producing a revamped, reduxed, remade Halo 2.

The magazine supposedly says:

"Following the success of remake Halo Anniversary, 343 Industries has now started development of Halo 2 Anniversary."

People have been gagging for a remake since (and before) Anniversary came out and I suggest if it was released sometime in 2013 that would be a nice break between this year's Halo 4 release and what the sequel to that which will surely be released in 2015.

So what say you Halo fan? Do you think Halo 2 should be remade?

J Bach's Halo 4 Concept Artwork

Humanity's most popular Boy Scout
Do you remember the live action Halo trailer that featured the Infinity? Of course you do. Here's some Halo concept artwork by one J Bach that helped the production of the advertisment. Bach has done a tour of duty at Lucasfilm so he would appear to know his stuff.

The picture below shows a scene from the trailer where the crew of the Infinity are attending it's launch event.

Infinity launch ceremony artwork

Bach notes that the trailer was going to feature the Master Chief but the scene was cut. He's kindly supplied some of the art for that scene however and a pretty cool one of some Forerunner structures being explored by some kind of humanoid looking figure. Bach notes "This last image was for a concept in which an ancient technology sitting undisturbed for eons is finally discovered by a young native boy."

Paul McCartney has a date with Destiny?

Does Paul McCartney has a date with Destiny? Is he winging it?

It's definitely not a coincidence that on Bungie Day, Paul McCartney has tweeted a picture of himself and and Bungie's own grizzled ancient, Marty O'Donnell. It would appear that the two are involved in some kind of musical collaboration. Is it for Destiny?

Here's Macca's tweet:

Here's Marty's tweet:

So what does it mean folks? Is The Fireman going to be a part of Bungie's Destiny series of games? Is this for a different project? How much are Bungie paying McCartney for his musical services and has he ever clocked a Halo game on Legendary mode? What's the #Tru7h ?

Myth II: Soulblighter wanted to harvest your computer's soul

Myth II: Soulblighter wanted to harvest your computer's soul

Some people may not realise it but before Bungie was known as the company that made Halo, they made other games. Marathon, Oni and Myth were all popular games in their own special ways and brought Bungie enough attention so that whilst developing Halo: Combat Evolved, Microsoft was keeping a real close eye on them and ultinmately bought the company.

That might not have been the case if Bungie had not have realised they'd made a huge screw up with Myth II: Soulblighter.

In 1998,  Myth II: Soulblighter was about to be released and in short, it had a problem where it decided to delete the game users' data.

It turns out the uninstaller programme on the games's disc contained a particularly stupid coding oversight which deleted the entire contents of the folder where Soulblighter had been installed. If that happened to be the computer's root directory rather than the intended default location, uninstalling the game basically removed Windows and the rest of the content from the PC's hard drive thus creating a giant brick.

Bungie clearly could not let this happen (it would be terrible for their brand name and a total dick move) and so had to replace the already pressed game at their own cost with new pressings.

I spied an internet forum post that said "only the marketing person who discovered the bug had his hard drive wiped" so perhaps this bug was grown into a legend by the fact that it could have been terrible rather than it having actually happened. Either way, Halo didn't delete anyone's hard drive did it?

Extra for Experts: It is Myth's music, Siege of Madrigal, that can be found as an Easter egg in the Halo games.
