Cosplay for World of Warcraft Fans

world of warcraft costume

In New Zealand we have a thing called the World of Wearable Art which is goes by the name the WOW awards. Which must really confuse locally based World of Warcraft fans who like to cosplay. We have hobbit cosplayers  too....

They probably think they can turn up wearing their latest surgically enhanced elf ears and run down the cat walk in their little bikinis while brandishing a sword 5 times their body weight.

Right? Well no, it doesn't happen but what does occur is that millions of WOW still like to dress as their characters and get down for a bit of cosplay fun at the various conventions. Here's the pictures.

World of Warcraft, often referred to as WoW, is a kind of game known as a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG).

A game of fantasy, adventure and of course war,  World of Warcraft takes place within the Warcraft world of Azeroth.

There's hundreds of thousands of people playing this game every day. It's no wonder some of them decide to take their love of the game back into the real world and dress up as their own avatars, cosplay style.

Master Chief cameo in Gears of War 3?

The Cole Train just arrived at the station

So while you are all out playing the Gears of War 3 beta, Clif Bleszinski is still running round do promotional work for the game - and his latest effort is to claim that he tried to get Halo's Master Chief into the game thus  making an attempt to create the ultimate Gears of Halo crossover a reality. Alas it was not to be. Here's some quotes I stole from the internet.

"I'll let you in on a secret. I actually approached Microsoft on getting Master Chief into the game, but those guys are kind of squeamish"

"One of Halo's successes is that it's a soft M [rating]. Gears pushes it further. I'm creatively comfortable with that, though it can limit what you do. If you had to break it down, I'd say that Gears is like Mortal Kombat and Halo is like Street Fighter."

"But if we were to get Master Chief, we'd get his model, put him in a COG suit, make it blow up, and do some test animation work"

"We'd have to see what his head looks like being blown to smithereens or how his arm would look getting sawed off. Then we'd package up the test footage, put it on YouTube, and let the fans get a kick out of it because everything is meta these days.

"That's why Gears is packed with Easter eggs. That's the kind of metagame we have to think about in a post-Red Dead Redemption world."

Cliff talks a good game and I'm not sure how far he really went with this concept of putting the Master Chief into Gears of War. I do recall they did go and put Marcus and Dom into Lost Planet 2 but who really cared about that?

Jacked by Predator

Xbox Live policy enforcement director Stephan Toulouse has had his personal xbox live account hacked by a person who identified themselves as Predator. Having left a note on the account suggesting they would hack other accounts for 'Paypal or Alertpay', Game Informer reports that Predator says he's only doing this to strengthen Xbox Live's security in the future. "I'm simply letting them know I'm willing to help them secure accounts from future hackers," said the Predator.

Joystick reports how the Predator is one unfriendly dude. At least he hasn't taken down the Play Station Network....

Aria T'Loak Cosplay Mass Effect

Aria Cosplay
Aria T'Loak is possibly the most beautiful blue character ever created. That's right, Smurfette has been taken down a peg by Aria in the blue hotty stakes as major player on the asteroid of Omega.

As Mass Effect's resident bitch, (aside from the female version of Commander Sheppard) Aria took a no holds barred approach to her business affairs and duly was deemed by this cosplay fan of re-inventing her look for the camera.

Will Aria T'Loak be in Mass Effect 3? It could be a possibility as the character had a larger than life presence in game and with A-list actor Carrie-Anne Moss on vocal duty, it would seem to be a waste if Aria was not in ME3. Either way, we're looking forward to the cosplay that game should generate!

Creating the Krogans for Mass Effect 3

Krogan Concept Art
Check out this video of Mass Effect's Matt Rhodes, the associate art director for ME3, sharing his insights into the design that goes into making the Krogan  or 'wrinkle faced bats' as he describes the battle loving race.

"Normal is the new Veteran" Mass Effect

"Normal is the new Veteran" according to Mass Effect 3 producer Casey Hudson. What this means is he's saying ME3 will be harder to play. Hopefully that means the skirmishes your character find themselves in will not continue to be a whole lot of hiding behind blocks and shooting back when the Krogan reloads or whatever.

Meanwhile Attackoftheboy has some spoiler ish news to share:

"The story in Mass Effect 3 starts off with Commander Shepard on Earth, attending trial for his actions during the Mass Effect 2 “Arrival” DLC. The trial will set the stage for the game, and at some point during it, the Reapers will suddenly begin their invasion of the planet. We saw glimpses of the invasion in the first ME3 trailer which led people to believe that Earth would be under attack, and this has been confirmed."

Which all sounds nice and dandy, and as for the villian (other than the Reapers!) it should be pretty obviously that the Illusive Man will be Sheppard's Antagonist:

"The Illusive Man who was a large part of the first game, is the head of the Cerberus Organization, but unlike Mass Effect 2 he will not be on your side. He won’t be rebuilding you cybernetically, nor lending you any of the ships in his fleet. This time, his role in the game will be to take down the Commander. Why this is the case, is unknown, but likely to be revealed early on in Mass Effect 3."

And finally we get some news on where all the action of the game will take place:

"Some of the places you will see in the sequel include a Salarian homeworld, a Quarian homeworld occupied by Geth, A human mining operation on Mars, and you will be visiting Earth as well. There is a human mega-city that was formed by the merging of Vancouver and Seattle in the fiction, this is where you’ll spend your Earthbound time. Unfortunately it will not be London or New York as thought before. You’ll see this city of Earth in two parts, one before the invasion, and then after the Reapers have decimated the city"

Of course, until we get concrete intel all of the above should really be considered speculation.

The Play Station Network's Epic Fail

You know, the last time I played a Play Station was on the original console back in my university days in the mid 1990’s. I think we hired some skiing / trick jump game. I recall being bored but that might have been because my flat mate hogged the controller all weekend.

Any ways, I’m very pro X-Box some it’s with some gloating that I note that the Play Station Network has crashed due to some ‘external intrusion’ and no one has been able to do anything online or multiplayer related for the past 6 days.

Six days without online activity to allow people to play recently released games like Portal 2 with online friends or to download DLC for high flying games like Mass Effect 2 is like having a keg party without a keg, no body gets drunk or laid. It’s like wandering round in the desert for 40 years, suddenly finding yourself at the right address but the door is locked and theirs no body home.

You get my point.  This crash is an EPIC fail by Sony to protect one of their core business systems. Sure, it appears to have been an outside attack but surely there were systems in place to recognise it was happening and taking counter measures? I can imagine a pretty stressed Sony exec mimicking the Arbiter’s best line from Halo 3, ‘were it so easy’ in response but sure that’s it right?

The PlayStation outage affects around 70 million registered PlayStation 3 and PSP users – that’s a lot of pissed off gamers. When the network gets its reboot what will Sony do to placate it’s users. Will it offer free credits or will it give everyone a free ‘I Survived the Outage’ Trophy?

Either way Sony is sure going to have to do a lot to restore its reputation. Even though the core service is free to gamers, people buy games from Sony in the knowledge they can use and rely on the online service, so they’d still have a legitimate gripe and would probably expect something awesome as a 'sorry'.

You can bet your all your Halo achievement points that the engineers of Xbox Live are taking a good long look at what happened and are doing their best to ensure it does not happen to their system – and for that, Xbox fans can be pleased that this catastrophe happened to Sony rather than Microsoft – heck I think we’re still getting over the red ring of death fiasco.

What are your thoughts? What do you think Sony should do to make it up to it's 70 million users?

Xmen's Mystique performed by Cosplay Fans

I'm sure you will agree that Rebecca Romijn has a lot to answer for.

As the sexiest mutant in history in the three original X-Men movies she gave all the fan boys what that'd been dreaming for for decades with her voluptuous turn as the incredibly lithe Mystique.

Question. John Stamos - WTF were you thinking letting this babe slip through your fingers? Anyway's John's loss was Ugly Betty's gain in the end. Right?

Jean Grey / Dark Phoenix Cos Play Photos

Jean Grey is the well known character from the X-men. She has been known under the aliases Marvel Girland later, Phoenix and Dark Phoenix, and is best known as one of five original members of the X-Men, for her relationship with Cyclops, and for her central role and transformation in the classic X-Men storyline, "The Dark Phoenix Saga".

Given the character's longevity her beauty and hot body, Jean Grey is a popular cos play choice.

Halo's Cortana Costume Play Photos

Do you think they're real?
Cortana is the purple goddess of the Halo Universe. She's the reason the Master Chief was able to save the entire Universe from the threat of the flood and that evil nasty cult known as the Covenant. She's second in popularity to Master Chief, so in effect, she is as Bumblebee to Optimus Prime.

A popular figure on the internet, people are always searching Gears of Halo for sexy nude pictures of Cortana - but today that's not the case - we're bringing you pictures of cosplayers dressing up as Cortana. Heck, we'll even through in a couple of pictures of the Master Chief:
