Either way it's full of cosplay characters that are the heroes or villains of many pieces of comic book, video game or movie fictions. What's your favourite? Dead Space too scary a game?

In some amusing propaganda / promotional talk for the forth coming Dead Space 3 game, marketing executive Laura Miele from EA said said research on the two predecessors to Dead Space 3 were "pretty scary" to play solo, and where a main reason  why co-op was included in the latest installment.

I say it's all talk (but the game is scary!) and that co-op is another tool to make the game play fun for friends!

Miele was quoted as saying "We received feedback to understand how we can take the game out to even more consumers. We were hearing feedback that they love the thriller game, but it was pretty scary, and the obvious next step was that they wanted to play with someone. So we introduced co-op into the game."

Miele went to assure fanboys that the inclusion of co-op for Dead Space 3 will not compromise the sheer terror that is a feature of the series thus far.

“The horror of Dead Space is still all there," she said. "It’s still true to its roots and no less scary, but people felt far more comfortable playing it with someone else than they did doing it on their own...Personally, I would rather go to a scary movie with my husband rather than sit at home with the lights out watching one on my own. We’re looking for that to reach out to consumers that perhaps were not open to Dead Space 1 and 2.”

I gotta be honest, I only recently got my hands on the original Dead Space game. So far it has it's moments.... full review to follow.

Neill Blomkamp reflects on the Halo film

The Playlist features Neill Blomkamp's thoughts on how Halo has lead him to where he is today, about to release his second feature length fill "Elysium."

For those so unaware, Neill was set to direct Halo and well into production development before it was canned. 

Here's the tasty bits Neil said:

"I think 'Halo' was a complete blessing in disguise. I have no idea what would've happened to my career if I had done that."

"It really, really, really, really, really happened in a way that I think is pretty lucky for me. I'm lucky that I met Peter Jackson and I'm incredibly lucky that he was the person that allowed 'District 9' to be made. There is absolutely no way on God's Earth that that film would be made in Hollywood without his involvement. Or without him basically dictating that it was going to be me. A first time director, you just can't do that"

"What happened for me was, the collapse of the hornet's nest nightmare that 'Halo' would've been -- and I got to experience that as well, I worked on that thing for six months -- it's like 'good riddance' when it falls over. And then to be more confident in your own ideas, and to work on ['District 9'] and then to work on another idea at the time, it's now reaffirmed for me, you don't need to go and do this whole approach that a lot of directors seem to take. I don't really care if it's not the biggest film. As long as I'm creatively invested in it, I feel like I'm making the right choice. It could be a $5 million film, it doesn't matter. The budget we needed on ['Elysium'] was a lot, but that's because the concept required that."

Cosplay Queen Adrianne Curry lived up to the hype that the 2012 SDCC Comic Con her her version of an Evil Queen. Apparently her costume was inspired by Charlize Theron's character from Snow White and the Huntsman. EDIT Actually it's from Legend. I have that movie on DVD but stopped halfway through due to sheer boredom. Not to be content with the black dress, Adrianne then donned a tight fitting leather outfit that was a play on a certain Star Wars look... oh, how could I forget Raptor Jesus....

Mass Effect Leviathan DLC?

Voice actor Anthony Skordi has perhaps naughtily told Eurogamer website that he is in fact voicing Leviathan for the Mass Effect 3 DLC.

Leviathan is apparently a Reaper gone rouge who can prove to be of a most valuable War Asset to Shepard and the Alliance forces as part of the ME3 campaign.

It's been suggested that early reports indicated that the "DLC will feature Shepard being tasked with rescuing a scientist from a Reaper-indoctrinated mining facility that has been under the control of a Reaper named "Leviathan" for a decade. Leviathan has been in exile since killing one of his own, providing Shepard with an opportunity to turn it against the other Reapers."

The DLC would not mark Leviathan's first entry into the Mass Effect series. Scanning a planet in the original Mass Effect reveals "The Leviathan of Dis" which in the context of that game was intimated at being downed space ship. Mass Effect 3 mixes that up by having the Batarian character Balak confirm that the ship is actually Leviathan and that the Batarians have reactivated it incidentally....

The SD Comic Con is where it all happens - Peter Jackson reveals a bit about The Hobbit films, Frankie lets looks a wee trailer about a film called Forward Unto Dawn and the fans come in droves wearing their favourite cosplay costumes.

This years line up includes Professor Xavier from X-Men, a little sister from Bioshock, Gandalf and the Ghostbusters logo. Don't fall asleep or Mrs Freddy Kruger will tear you to shreds!

Greg Bear's Halo: Silentium released date announced

Greg Bear's Halo: Silentium has been announced - the novel is the conclusion to Bear's Forerunner trilogy. Let's hope it's a more satisfying reading that Primordium.....  I imagine it is being released after Halo 4 to not give away any plot details of the game.

I'm quite confident that this is an allusion to the Covenant's Prophets and their example of being leaders of Covenant that demonstrates that power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely. Quite confident.

Is a Halo 2 remake on the cards?

Is a Halo 2 remake on the cards?

If the Official Xbox Magazine has it's finger properly on the pulse, they have confirmed that 343 has started work in producing a revamped, reduxed, remade Halo 2.

The magazine supposedly says:

"Following the success of remake Halo Anniversary, 343 Industries has now started development of Halo 2 Anniversary."

People have been gagging for a remake since (and before) Anniversary came out and I suggest if it was released sometime in 2013 that would be a nice break between this year's Halo 4 release and what the sequel to that which will surely be released in 2015.

So what say you Halo fan? Do you think Halo 2 should be remade?
